Cheadle High Street Christmas Lights Turn On – A Year of Community and Creativity
It’s hard to believe that it’s been just over a year since I set up my design studio right here on Cheadle High Street in Staffordshire. From day one, the local community has been incredibly welcoming, and being asked to design the poster for this year’s Cheadle Christmas Lights Switch-On feels like a huge milestone for both myself and my business, Paper Anchor Designs.
A Creative Process Rooted in Cheadle
When creating the visuals for the Christmas Lights event, I wanted to capture the heart and spirit of Cheadle. I took inspiration from the colours of the “Welcome to Cheadle” sign, dialled up the vibrancy, and designed line art illustrations of some of the town’s favourite Christmas attractions. These included Spiderman, Stitch, Ranger Mike, Wicked, Penguin Hunt, and reindeers – characters and icons that bring smiles and memories to families across Staffordshire.
By blending bold colours, clean fonts, and festive decorations, I aimed to design a poster that sparks excitement for children and families, something that can be proudly displayed in shop windows across the town. The goal was simple: bring back the magic to the High Street and remind everyone that Christmas in Cheadle is truly special.
More Than Just a Poster
This project isn’t just about design – it’s about community, creativity, and connection. With the support of fantastic local sponsors like AA Silencers and JCB, the Christmas Lights Turn On has become a celebration of what makes Cheadle such a great place to live and work.
For me, it’s also a chance to highlight that Cheadle now has its very own design agency right in the heart of the High Street. Being based at the back of Woods Menswear, I’m passionate about seeing more footfall in town, meeting new faces, and helping local businesses bring their ideas to life through design.
A Bright Future for Cheadle
Designing the Christmas Lights Switch-On poster has been an incredible experience, and I hope it shows just how much creative change can add to community spirit. This is more than just a project – it’s about showing the people of Cheadle that creativity lives here.
So, as the lights go on and the High Street fills with families, music, and festive cheer, I feel proud to play a small part in making Cheadle shine this Christmas.
A Huge Thank You
I want to say a massive thank you to Team Cheadle for giving me this opportunity, supporting me through networking, and for being by my side over the last 12 months. Their commitment to bringing the community together has been incredible, and I’m proud to be part of it.
